Mr. Shannonhouse received his A.B. degree from UNC in 1962 and his J.D. degree from the UNC School of Law in 1965. Upon completion of the 40 hour Mediator Certification course conducted by Mediation, Inc. in 1965, he became a mediator certified by the North Carolina Dispute Resolution Commission. He successfully completed in the Negotiation for Lawyers course conducted by Roger Fisher at Harvard Law School in 1996. He is also a licensed Real Estate Broker in North Carolina.
Intercede Mediation/ADR Services was established by Mr. Shannonhouse in 1998 to provide the services of exceptionally well qualified attorneys and former judges to mediate cases arising in the Superior Courts of North Carolina, including Mecklenburg County. The company sponsored and conducted DRC approved Mediator Training Courses from 2003-2005, and Mr. Shannonhouse was an instructor and trainer in those courses. He has served as arbitrator for the American Arbitration Association and the New York Stock Exchange.
Mr. Shannonhouse has practiced law in Mecklenburg County since 1965. His practice has included conducting trials representing both plaintiffs and defendants in the North Carolina and Untied States District Courts and representing clients in matters including estate planning, intellectual property, business relationships and real estate, both residential and commercial. Since 2012 he has limited his practice to dispute resolution where his experience includes acting as arbitrator and mediator in cases dealing with Business/Corporations, Condemnation, Construction/Construction Defect, Contracts, Corporations, Employment, Insurance, Landlord/Tenant, Negligence, Negligence / Medical, Patents/Trademarks/Intellectual Property, Personal Injury, Professional Malpractice, and Real Estate, commercial and residential.
